Stephen F. Austin University Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band meets Fall and Spring semesters. The Symphonic Band performs at least three major concerts each year. Although this group is primarily made up of music majors, many non-music majors find playing in this group a challenging and interesting way to keep enjoying music after high school. Auditions are held in late August for the Fall semester and in November for the Spring Semester.
The Symphonic Band is the perfect ensemble for many players who enter college expecting to sharpen their playing skills. This ensemble also meets the needs of students in the Music Education curriculum. Teaching techniques are used which enable players to perform better while learning how to teach better as well. Symphonic Band performs music from the Texas UIL Grade V list in its repertoire.
